SODA Impro's approach to improvised plays is heavily character-driven and prefers a chaos theory approach to plot development, which elevates the importance of theme over structure. Played Out begins with long scenes for organic discovery, and allows characters' emotional truths to drive the narrative and get them into trouble. Characters and relationships are allowed to be complex and contradictory, because they serve no other purpose than to exist as who and what they are.
